November 17-23 is National Skin Cancer Action Week.
Each year, just before Summer, Cancer Council Australia and the Australasian College of Dermatologists run National Skin Cancer Action Week, to focus on sun protection and of the importance of early skin cancer detection for all Australians.
This year teenagers (and everyone else!) are encouraged to #OwnYourTone by using all five forms of sun protection :
- slip on sun-protective clothing
- slop on SPF30 (or higher) broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen
- slap on a broad-brimmed hat
- seek shade
- slide on sunglasses
Along with prevention, early detection of skin cancer is also critical.
All of our doctors have a special interest in skin cancer diagnosis and management. If you have concerns regarding any spot on your skin, or you have a personal history or family history of skin cancer, you can book in for a skin check here , or call 07 3123 4829 to speak to one of our receptionists.
